Paper and carton are part of the so-called “poor” materials, brought to the spotlight as autonomous means of art, only very late – among plastic works they are the most light, fragile and delicate materials, only used in the about the last 25 years. The rippled carton, for industrial use, and better if used, used in this way by the artist becomes symbol of awareness of nature, of protection of the environment, of recycling,as well as of way of becoming closer to ethnology and archaeology. Liz Gehrer’s ability to obtain anthropomorphic figures from this “trash” makes her work absolutely extraordinary.
